Can NxLib be used with other gigevision cameras?

General Information

  • Product: N Series
  • Serial Number: n/a
  • Ensenso SDK Version: 4.3
  • Operating System: Linux

Problem / Question

I’m reading through the Texturing Point Clouds / Multi Camera Setup instructions and am curious to know if the monocular camera in use needs to be IDS/uEye? If I was using another gigevision camera would it be possible to use the NxLibCommand commands with it (i.e. computeTexture, renderPointMap, etc.)? Or would I be looking at integrating two different APIs to capture images and integrate them with the Ensenso- N-series derived pointcloud data?

I do see that I’d need an alternative way to calibrate (I understand that the NxView calibrate utility only works with Ensenso/IDS cameras per Texturing pointclouds: calibration procedure of a monocular camera not supported by the EnsensoSDK*)*

Thank you in advance!

Hi @krobot,

in principle this was already possible, our GigEVision layer has worked with other cameras in the past. But we recently removed non-IDS cameras from the listing, because we do not test with other camera types in a regular fashion.

Is there any sort of device or manufacturer you’re specifically interested in?

best regards, Rainer
