For our loan pool we do recalibrate N-Series to different model ID’s. Usually we’re using N36-Kit, but there are some “Fix-String” models like N36-602, that we recalibrate to e.g. N36-606.

No, the model name cannot be changed through the API.
Does “SaveCameraModel” use the calibration data or does it use the modelname?
It uses the actual calibration of the opened camera for the geometry of the volume, except for the computation of the operating distance. That is computed from the model name, because it needs to know about the aperture.
For your mixed camera (and probably for any Kit camera) this will not be correct. As a workaround you can export models for a theoretical model by creating a virtual camera of that model.
