Ensenso X36 fail to capture if Exposure is set to a high value

General Information

Problem / Question

Hello,

When I use NxView to capture, Ensenso X36 will fail to capture and then connection will be reset automatically if Exposure is set to a high value (even if setting that high value is allowed by the vendor tool in the first place). NxView will alert that the supplied DC voltage to the is too low. However, I am using power adapter that came from the vendor in the first place.
Can this issue be fixed by upgrading the sdk version?

Hello @KuanYu,

you are right, using the power adapter delivered with the camera all exposure values, also high one, should work properly. At the moment I do not believe that this a software issue. Hence, I do not think a SDK update would fix this.
Often the reason for such a problem is a supply cable that is too long. Did you connect the X36 directly to the power adapter or do you use some kind of extension?
What is the exact exposure value you are trying to use?

Kind regards,
Marc

Hello Marc,

Thank you for your quick response.
I checked with the team, they said they connect the X36 direct to the power adapter.
On the other hand, I think the team just want the X36 to not disconnected. They are just adjusting the exposure value and found this issue.

Hello @KuanYu ,

thank you for the response.
If you directly connect the X36 to the power adapter everything should be fine.
Can you tell me the lowest exposure value which led to the disconnect and error shown above? Do you maybe use the X36 and the power supply in a hot environment (> 40°C)? E.g. a closed small box?

Kind regards,
Marc

Hello Marc,

The lowest exposure value which led to this error is about 0.009 s.
The camera is set in a open demo cell though.

Hello @KuanYu,

based on this information, I guess there is indeed a problem with either the power supply or the camera itself. 9ms exposure should not be a problem for the X36.
Would it be possible for you to try again with another power supply?

Kind regards,
Marc
